Shared protocol statements
First Claim
1. One or more non-transitory computer storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the process to perform for performing a method for defining a plurality of protocol orders, the method comprising:
- receiving a plurality of protocol orders, each protocol order of the plurality of protocol orders associated with a different patient;
creating a batch by receiving user input associating two or more protocol orders of the plurality of protocol orders, the two or more protocol orders comprising a same series of steps, completion of the same series of steps producing a result for each of the two or more protocol orders;
identifying a common data element shared by the two or more protocol orders;
receiving input of a value for the common data element in association with a first protocol order of the two or more protocol orders associated with one another in the batch; and
upon receiving the received value for the first protocol order of the two or more protocol orders, automatically associating the received value with each of the remaining protocol orders of the two or more protocol orders associated with one another in the batch.

Abstract
Computerized methods and systems for creating and documenting protocol orders in a molecular diagnostic laboratory environment are provided. Utilizing the methods and systems described herein, protocol statements may require values to be entered in association therewith prior to permitting access to subsequent protocol orders. Accordingly, more accurate test runs and, consequently, more accurate test results, may be achieved. Additionally, as values associated with protocol statements are electronically captured, in accordance with embodiments hereof, such values may be searched to evaluate trends or identify protocol orders and/or results that may be affected by a later discovered error or the like.
