Electrical connectors having open-ended conductors
First Claim
1. An electrical connector comprising:
- a connector body configured to mate with a plug connector and a contact sub-assembly held by the connector body, the contact sub-assembly comprising;
a plurality of mating conductors that are configured to transmit signal current, wherein each of the mating conductors extends between an engagement portion and an interior portion of the respective mating conductor, the engagement portions of the mating conductors configured to engage plug contacts of a mating connector, the engagement portions being located proximate to one another at a first nodal region, the interior portions of the mating conductors being located proximate to one another at a second nodal region;
first open-ended conductors electrically connected to the engagement portions of corresponding mating conductors and extending from the first nodal region; and
second open-ended conductors electrically connected to the interior portions of corresponding mating conductors and extending from the second nodal region, wherein the first open-ended conductors are capacitively coupled to the second open-ended conductors.

Abstract
An electrical connector including a contact sub-assembly having a plurality of mating conductors that are configured to transmit signal current. Each of the mating conductors extends between an engagement portion and an interior portion of the respective mating conductor. The engagement portions are located proximate to one another at a first nodal region. The interior portions are located proximate to one another at a second nodal region. The electrical connector also includes first open-ended conductors that are electrically connected to the engagement portions of corresponding mating conductors. The electrical connector also includes second open-ended conductors that are electrically connected to the interior portions of corresponding mating conductors. The first open-ended conductors are capacitively coupled to the second open-ended conductors.

15. A contact sub-assembly comprising:
-
a plurality of differential pairs comprising mating conductors that are configured to transmit signal current along an interconnection path; and a plurality of open-ended conductors, each of the open-ended conductors being electrically connected to a corresponding mating conductor of the plurality of differential pairs, the open-ended conductors configured to capacitively couple select mating conductors thereby providing a compensation region that is electrically parallel to the interconnection path. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
