Abstract

A system includes a transceiver configured to receive a composite signal. The composite signal is a composite of a transmit signal and a receive signal. A replica transmitter is configured to generate a replica transmit signal based on the transmit signal. A transmit canceller is configured to recover the receive signal at least in part by resistively summing the composite signal and the replica transmit signal.

Claims

1. A system, comprising:

a transceiver configured to receive a composite signal and an encoded transmit signal, the composite signal being a composite of a transmit signal and a receive signal;

a replica transmitter configured to i) receive the encoded transmit signal and ii) generate a replica transmit signal based on the encoded transmit signal; and

a transmit canceller configured to recover the receive signal at least in part by resistively summing the composite signal and the replica transmit signal, wherein the transmit canceller includes an operational amplifier having an inverting input, a non-inverting input, and an output, and wherein the composite signal and the replica transmit signal are directly connected to the inverting input.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the transceiver includes a first current source and a first resistor, and wherein the first current source is configured to generate the transmit signal across the first resistor based on the encoded transmit signal.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the replica transmitter includes a second current source and at least one second resistor, the second current source configured to generate the replica transmit signal across the at least one second resistor based on the encoded transmit signal.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein at least one of a filtered replica signal, a baseline wander control current, and a common-mode shift current is directly connected to the inverting input.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein the common-mode shift current is based on a desired output common-mode voltage of the operational amplifier, a transconductance of the operational amplifier, and a current offset.

6. The system of claim 5, further comprising a voltage controlled current source configured to generate the common-mode shift current to cause the operational amplifier to generate the desired output common-mode voltage.

7. The system of claim 4, further comprising a baseline wander correction module configured to generate the baseline wander control current to correct for baseline wander, wherein the baseline wander corresponds to a deviation from an initial DC potential of at least one of the transmit signal and the receive signal.

8. A method, comprising:

receiving a composite signal and an encoded transmit signal, the composite signal being a composite of a transmit signal and a receive signal;

generating a replica transmit signal based on the encoded transmit signal; and

recovering the receive signal at least in part by resistively summing the composite signal and the replica transmit signal, wherein recovering the receive signal includes, at an operational amplifier having an inverting input, a non-inverting input, and an output, directly connecting the composite signal and the replica transmit signal to the inverting input.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

using a first current source, generating the transmit signal across a first resistor based on the encoded transmit signal.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

using a second current source, generating the replica transmit signal across at least one second resistor based on the encoded transmit signal.

11. The method of claim 8, directly connecting at least one of a filtered replica signal, a baseline wander control current, and a common-mode shift current to the inverting input.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the common-mode shift current is based on a desired output common-mode voltage of the operational amplifier, a transconductance of the operational amplifier, and a current offset.

13. The method of claim 12, further comprising:

using a voltage controlled current source, generating the common-mode shift current to cause the operational amplifier to generate the desired output common-mode voltage.

14. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

generating the baseline wander control current to correct for baseline wander, wherein the baseline wander corresponds to a deviation from an initial DC potential of at least one of the transmit signal and the receive signal.
