- at a portable electronic device with a touch screen display;
displaying a portion of a web page on the touch screen display without displaying a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) entry area for inputting URLs of web pages, whereinthe web page has a web page length; and
the displayed portion of the web page has a displayed portion length that is less than the web page length;
detecting a single finger tap on the touch screen display in a predefined area at the top of the touch screen display, wherein the predefined area at the top of the touch screen display is a status bar for the portable electronic device; and
in response to detecting the single finger tap on the touch screen display in the predefined area at the top of the touch screen display, translating the web page to display a top portion of the web page and concurrently displaying the URL entry area for inputting URLs of web pages adjacent to the top portion of the web page.

Abstract
A computer-implemented method for use in conjunction with a computing device with a touch screen display comprises displaying a portion of a web page in a web browser application without concurrently displaying a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) entry area for inputting URLs of web pages. A gesture is detected in a predefined area at the top of the touch screen display. In response to detecting the gesture in the predefined area at the top of the touch screen display, the URL entry area is displayed.
