1. A wireless telephone comprising:
- a microphone configured to receive ambient music of a song;
a processor configured to digitize the received ambient music to obtain a sample;
a transceiver configured to wirelessly transmit a first signal derived from the sample to a server, wherein the first signal is derived from music of the song and not a signal embedded in the music;
wherein the transceiver is further configured to wirelessly receive a second signal from the server;
wherein the processor is further configured to recover text from the second signal;
wherein the recovered text is a title of the song; and
a user interface configured to display the recovered text.

Abstract
The invention comprises music and information delivery systems and methods. One system comprises a portable communication device configured to receive a piece of music from an audio source and transmit the piece of music via a first communication medium to a host computer. The host computer is configured to receive the piece of music from the portable communication device and search a storage medium to identify and access the piece of music from the storage medium. The host computer is configured to transmit the piece of music via a second communication medium to one or more reception units that are configured to receive the piece of music from the host computer via the second communication medium.

receiving ambient music of a song by a wireless telephone; digitizing, by the wireless telephone, the received ambient music to obtain a sample; wirelessly transmitting a first signal derived from the sample to a server by the wireless telephone, wherein the first signal is derived from music of the song and not a signal embedded in the music; wirelessly receiving a second signal from the server by the wireless telephone; recovering text from the second signal by the wireless telephone;
