System and method for producing medical image data onto portable digital recording media
First Claim
1. A method comprising:
- receiving at an interface associated with a robotic disc burning system a request for medical imaging data recordable on a portable non-transitory digital recording medium that is removable from the robotic disc burning system;
receiving, over a network in response to the request, exam data comprising medical imaging data formatted in a standard medical imaging format, wherein receiving exam data comprises receiving exam data by the robotic disc burning system which is configurable to query a plurality of data stores for data formatted in a standard medical imaging format;
storing at least some of the exam data in data storage associated with the robotic disc burning system;
recording, by the robotic disc burning system, at least the following onto the recording medium;
at least some of the received medical imaging data; and
a viewing program that is configured to allow viewing of the medical imaging data that is recorded onto the recording medium by a general purpose computer that is not specifically configured with medical imaging software for viewing of medical imaging data; and
transmitting, by the robotic disc burning system, audit data that comprises at least a date associated with the recording and a patient identifier associated with the recording.

Abstract
This application discloses a system for recording medical image data for production on a portable digital recording medium such as CDs and DVDs. Aspects of this disclosure include a robotic disc burning system that can receive a request to record medical image data on the data storage medium. The system includes, among other components, an auditing component configured to transmit to an audit module audit data that includes an identifier associated with the data storage medium, an identifier associated with a requester of the recording request, and an identifier associated with a patient associated with the medical image data. Additional aspects of this disclosure include an associated method for recording medical image data.
