1. A method for modifying a currently infusing VTBI command by a user at a medical device having a display screen, the method comprising:
- delivering an infusion fluid based on a current VTBI command;
displaying a quick titration button on the display screen;
pressing the quick titration button to generate a request from the user at the medical device to modify the current VTBI command;
processing the request locally at the medical device;
displaying a VTBI programming screen at the display screen of the medical device in response to the request;
entering an updated VTBI command on the programming screen at the display screen of the medical device, the updated VTBI command being entered by the user;
displaying a confirmation screen at the display screen of the medical device to require confirmation from the user to modify the current VTBI command with the updated VTBI command; and
delivering the infusion fluid based on the updated VTBI command when the confirmation from the user is received.

Abstract
A method and system is disclosed for operating a medical device with or without a cassette in place. A method is disclosed for adding additional VTBI to an ongoing infusion without stopping the infusion and with maintaining the infusion parameters. A method and system is disclosed for changing the CCA without having to interrupt or completely stop an ongoing infusion. Quick titration buttons are provided to allow improved navigation between various delivery display screens.

4. A medication delivery system for a user to modify a currently executing VTBI delivery function of a medical device having a display screen, the system comprising:
a medical device having a processor and a memory coupled to the processor, the memory containing programming code to; deliver an infusion fluid based on a current VTBI command; display a quick titration button on the display screen; respond to a press of the quick titration button by the user to generate a request from the user at the medical device to modify the current VTBI command; process the request locally at the medical device; display a VTBI programming screen at the display screen of the medical device in response to the request; receive an updated VTBI command entered by the user on the programming screen; display a confirmation screen at the display screen of the medical device to require confirmation from the user to modify the current VTBI command with the updated VTBI command; and deliver the infusion fluid based on the updated VTBI command when the confirmation from the user is received. - View Dependent Claims (5, 6)

7. A medical device comprising:

a display screen switchable between a far view delivery screen and a near view delivery screen; at least one quick titration button displayed on the far view delivery screen when the display screen is configured to display the far view delivery screen, the at least one quick titration button being selected from the group consisting of a VTBI button, a rate button, and a dose button; wherein the at least one quick titration button, when pressed, switches the display screen from the far view delivery screen directly to the near view delivery screen with a data entry screen displayed, the data entry screen being selected from the group consisting of a VTBI data entry screen, a rate data entry screen, and a dose data entry screen associated with the at least one quick titration button pressed.

8. A medical device comprising:
a processor and a memory coupled to the processor, the memory containing programming code to; display a far view delivery screen; display at least one quick titration button on the far view delivery screen, the at least one quick titration button being selected from the group consisting of a VTBI button, a rate button, and a dose button; and respond to pressing of the at least one quick titration button displayed on the far view delivery screen by switching directly to a data entry screen displayed on a near view delivery screen, the data entry screen being selected from the group consisting of a VTBI data entry screen, a rate data entry screen, and a dose data entry screen associated with the at least one quick titration button pressed.
