1. An X-ray system comprising:
- an imaging system including a source of X-ray radiation, an X-ray image receptor, control circuitry for controlling the source of X-ray radiation, and a wireless interface, wherein the imaging system comprises a wheeled mobile system configured to move to transport the imaging system from a location to another location for imaging and at least one battery for powering the X-ray source and movement of the wheeled mobile system of the imaging system; and
a handheld interface device configured to communicate wirelessly with the imaging system;
wherein the wheeled mobile system is configured to move in response to a user command inputted into the handheld interface device and received by the imaging system, and wherein the imaging system is configured to wirelessly communicate system operational data to the handheld interface device, and the system operational data comprises a charge status of the at least one battery.

25. A method for operating a handheld X-ray interface device, comprising:

establishing wireless communication between an imaging system and a handheld interface device, the imaging system comprising a source of X-ray radiation, an X-ray image receptor, control circuitry for controlling the source of X-ray radiation, a first wireless interface, and a wheeled mobile system configured to move to transport the imaging system from a location to another location for imaging and at least one battery for powering the X-ray source and movement of the wheeled mobile system of the imaging system, the handheld interface device comprising a second wireless interface for communicating wirelessly with the imaging system; receiving on the handheld interface device a user command to move the wheeled mobile system; wirelessly communicating system operational data from the imaging system to the handheld interface device, wherein the system operational data comprises a charge status of the at least one battery; and providing a user detectable indication of the imaging system operational status based upon the received data. - View Dependent Claims (26, 27, 28, 29)
