1. A method of optically connecting first and second optical fiber sections to each other, the method comprising the steps of:
- positioning each of the first and second optical fiber sections within a respective one of first and second conduit sections;
optically connecting the first and second optical fiber sections to each other using an optical connection; and
containing the connection within a housing assembly, thereby isolating the optical connection from pressure external to the housing assembly.
