Corner pad for a door assembly
First Claim
1. A door assembly comprising:
- a vertical member extending upwardly from a lower end;
a weather strip adjacent said vertical member; and
a corner pad mounted to said vertical member at said lower end;
said corner pad including a base surface disposed at said lower end of said vertical member and a top surface spaced from said base surface;
said corner pad including a first edge surface extending from said base surface toward said top surface between said vertical member and said weather strip to define a first bore between said first edge surface and said weather strip, said corner pad including a second edge surface extending from said top surface toward said base surface between said vertical member and said weather strip to define a second bore between said second edge surface and said weather strip; and
said corner pad including a reservoir extending between said first edge surface and said second edge surface separating said first bore from said second bore to prevent upward wicking of water from said first bore toward said second bore and to top surface during rain.

Abstract
A door assembly for disposition in a building includes a vertical member, a weather strip adjacent the vertical member, and a door selectively moveable to be adjacent the weather strip. A threshold extends below the door and the vertical member extends upwardly from a lower end and a corner pad is mounted to the lower end. The corner pad includes a base surface abutting the threshold, a first edge surface extending upwardly from the base surface between the vertical member and the weather strip, and a lower reservoir surface extending upwardly from the first edge surface. The lower reservoir surface extends inwardly into the corner pad defining a reservoir between the vertical member and the weather strip. The corner pad includes a second reservoir surface extending angularly from said lower reservoir surface for preventing the water from splashing out of said reservoir and into an interior of the building.

11. A corner pad for disposition on a vertical member of a door assembly adjacent a threshold between the vertical member and a weather seal of the door assembly, said corner pad comprising:
-
a base surface; a top surface spaced from said base surface. a mounting face extending in a first direction from said base surface to said top surface; an opposite face spaced from said mounting face and extending in said first direction from said base surface to said top surface; a first edge surface extending from said base surface toward said top surface between said mounting face and said opposite face; a second edge surface extending from said top surface toward said base surface between said mounting face and said opposite face; and a reservoir extending between said first edge surface and said second edge surface for interrupting upward wicking of water between the weather strip and the corner pad during rain. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19)
