1. A display device having a plurality of light-emitting elements that construct picture elements aligned on a substrate in a formation of a matrix, wherein the light-emitting element comprises:

  • a light-emitting device having a flat surface portion and including a light-emitting layer, an anode and a cathode;

    a driver element connected with the light-emitting element;

    an insulation layer having a contact hole formed over the driver element;

    wherein the anode is formed on the insulation layer and connected to the driver element via the contact hole; and

    a tilted reflective surface is provided in a peripheral area surrounding the flat surface portion of the light-emitting device and has a tilt angle against the flat surface portion of the light-emitting device;

    wherein the tilted reflective surface is provided on a surface of a slope of a bank that is provided on the substrate,wherein the bank is formed to cover the contact hole;

    wherein a width of a cross section of the bank becomes smaller as the cross section comes farther away from a surface of the substrate;

    wherein an optical waveguide layer is overlaid in an area surrounded by the tilted reflective surface on the light emitting device; and

    wherein the optical waveguide layer is optically isolated from each of the picture elements.
