1. A device for coupling first and second telephone sets to multiple digital voice channels, for use with a first telephone wiring comprising two or four wires and being part of a local loop connecting to the exchange of a PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network), the first telephone wiring being connected to carry a first full-duplex serial digital data signal, the first full-duplex digital data carrying time-domain multiplexed first and second digital telephone signals, said device comprising:

  • a first port configured to couple to the first telephone set;

    a first transceiver coupled to said first port, and configured to process a first received digital telephone signal to extract a second telephone service signal, and transmit the first telephone service signal to the first telephone set;

    a second port configured to couple to the second telephone set;

    a second transceiver coupled to said second port, and configured to process a second received digital telephone signal to extract a second telephone service signal, and transmit the second telephone service signal to the second telephone set;

    a first connector configured to connect to the first telephone wiring;

    a third transceiver coupled to said first connector configured to transmit the first serial digital data signal to, and receive the first serial digital data signal from, the first telephone wiring; and

    a single enclosure housing said first, second and third transceivers, said first and second ports and said first connector;

    wherein said first, second and third transceivers are coupled to pass digital data there between.
