Viewing clinical activity details within a selected time period
First Claim
1. One or more nontransitory computer-readable media storing computer-useable instructions that, when used by one or more computing devices, cause the one or more computing devices to perform a method in a clinical computing environment for facilitating management of scheduled clinical activities for a single clinician, the method comprising:
- presenting a timeline view comprising a two-dimensional representation in which a first dimension corresponds with one or more patients assigned to the single clinician and a second dimension corresponds with time periods, wherein the timeline view includes a plurality of scheduled clinical activities occurring at a plurality of different time periods for a corresponding patient, each scheduled clinical activity being presented in the timeline view based on a scheduled time and the corresponding patient;
receiving a user selection of a time period in the timeline view;
in response to the user selection, presenting a filtered patient activity list for the single clinician, wherein presenting the filtered patient activity list comprises;
expanding, within the timeline view, the size of the selected time period relative to all other time periods for the single clinician that were not selected such that only the selected time period is expanded while the other time periods in the timeline view for the single clinician are unexpanded;
based on expanding the size of the selected time period, presenting further details regarding each of the scheduled clinical activities corresponding with the selected time period, wherein the details are provided in the context of the timeline view, further wherein the details are activity-specific information comprising one or more of medication activities, patient care activities, assessment activities, and specimen collection activities;
removing at least one other time period from the timeline view in response to the user selection of the time period in the timeline view and based on expanding the size of the selected time period relative to all other time periods for the single clinician, wherein a size of the removed at least one other time periods corresponds to a size of the expanded, selected time period such that the second dimension of the timeline view comprises the expanded, selected time period and at least one other time period that was not removed in response to expanding the size of the selected time period;
determining that at least one patient does not have a scheduled clinical activity during the selected time period; and
in response to the user selection of the time period, removing, from the timeline view, the at least one patient that does not have a scheduled clinical activity during the selected time period such that only those patients having activities during the selected time period are shown in the filtered patient activity list.

Abstract
Management of patient activities for a clinician is provided via a patient activity list. The patient activity list includes a timeline view comprising a two-dimensional representation in which a first dimension corresponds with one or more patients assigned to the clinician and a second dimension corresponds with time periods. The timeline view includes one or more scheduled clinical activities, each scheduled clinical activity being presented in the timeline view based on a scheduled time and a corresponding patient. In response to a user selection of a time period in the timeline view, details of scheduled clinical activities corresponding with the selected time period are provided within the timeline view.

3. One or more nontransitory computer-readable media storing computer-useable instructions that, when used by one or more computing devices, cause the one or more computing devices to perform a method for facilitating the management of scheduled clinical activities for a single clinician, the method comprising:
-
presenting a timeline view area comprising a plurality of time periods; presenting one or more icons in the timeline view area representing one or more clinical activities scheduled to be performed by a single clinician for one or more patients assigned to the single clinician, wherein each icon is presented in the timeline view area based on a scheduled time for a corresponding clinical activity; receiving user input indicating a selection of a time period in the timeline view area, wherein the user input includes selection of one of the one or more icons; in response to the received user input, presenting a filtered patient activity list, wherein presenting a filtered patient activity list comprises; determining that at least one patient does not have a scheduled clinical activity during the selected time period; based on both the received user input indicating a selection of a time period and the determining that at least one patient does not have a scheduled clinical activity during the selected time period, removing, from the timeline view area, the at least one patient that does not have a scheduled clinical activity during the selected time period; expanding the size of the selected time period within the timeline view area in response to the received user input, wherein the size of the selected time period is expanded relative to all other time periods for the single clinician that were not selected such that only the selected time period is expanded while the other time periods in the timeline view for the single clinician are unexpanded, and further wherein expanding the size of the selected time period comprises presenting details for each clinical activity corresponding with the selected time period for each remaining patient in the selected time period, wherein the details for each clinical activity are activity-specific information comprising one or more of medication activities, patient care activities, assessment activities, and specimen collection activities; and removing at least one other time period from the timeline view in response to the received user input indicating a selection of a time period in the timeline view area, wherein removing the at least one other time period is based at least in part on expanding the size of the selected time period relative to all other time periods for the single clinician, wherein a number of removed other time periods corresponds to the expanded size of the selected time period such that the second dimension of the timeline view comprises the expanded, selected time period and at least one other time period.
