1. A method implemented at least in part by a computing device, the method comprising:
- receiving instructions, at the networked computing device, from a user of a mobile device to allocate a portion of memory on the mobile device to be controlled and accessed by an entity other than the user of the mobile device;
receiving, at the networked computing device, an indication of an action taken by the entity to modify content on the mobile device, the action taken at a terminal separate from the mobile device;
transmitting a push message to the mobile device that causes the mobile device to automatically send a request to establish a network connection with the sender of the push message;
receiving the request from the mobile device to establish the network connection with the networked computing device;
establishing the network connection with the mobile device; and
transmitting, from the networked computing device, instructions through the network connection that cause the mobile device to modify the portion of memory allocated to the entity based at least in part on the action taken by the entity at the terminal.

Abstract
A hosted mobile management service is provided for enabling a user to access a centralized account through a user interface on a terminal in order to manage the user'"'"'s media information, such as digital music and photos. Any modifications made by user through the user interface are transparently sent to the user'"'"'s mobile device where a module receives such modification information and interacts with the mobile device to reconcile such modifications.

-
receiving instructions, at the networked computing device, from a user of a mobile device to allocate a portion of memory on the mobile device to be controlled and accessed by an entity other than the user of the mobile device; receiving, at the networked computing device, an indication of an action taken by the entity to modify content on the mobile device, the action taken at a terminal separate from the mobile device; transmitting a push message to the mobile device that causes the mobile device to automatically send a request to establish a network connection with the sender of the push message; receiving the request from the mobile device to establish the network connection with the networked computing device; establishing the network connection with the mobile device; and transmitting, from the networked computing device, instructions through the network connection that cause the mobile device to modify the portion of memory allocated to the entity based at least in part on the action taken by the entity at the terminal. - View Dependent Claims (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)

8. A computer system configured to provide a networked computing device the ability to remotely manage content on a mobile device, the computer system comprising:
-
one or more processors; a user content database coupled to the one or more processors; memory coupled to the one or more processors, the memory storing instructions that when executed cause the computer system to; receive instructions from a user of the mobile device to allocate a portion of the memory on the mobile device to be controlled and accessed by an entity other than the user of the mobile device; receive an indication of an action taken by the entity on a terminal separate from the mobile device; modify the portion of the user content database based at least in part on the indication; transmit a push message on an out of band channel to the mobile device that causes the mobile device to automatically send a request to establish a network connection with the networked computing device on an in band channel; establish the network connection with the mobile device in response to the request; and transmit, from the networked computing device, instructions to the mobile device over the network connection that cause the mobile device to modify the portion of the memory of the mobile device in accordance with modification of the portion of the user content database. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15)

16. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium including instructions that, when executed by a processor of a computer system, cause the computer system to:
-
receive instructions from a user of a mobile device to allocate a portion of memory on the mobile device to be controlled and accessed by an entity other than the user of the mobile device; receive an indication of an action taken by the entity to modify content in the portion of memory on the mobile device, the action taken on a terminal separate from the mobile device; transmit a push message using a first communications protocol to the mobile device that causes the mobile device to automatically send a request to establish a network connection using a second communications protocol; establish the network connection using the second communications protocol with the mobile device in response to receiving the request from the mobile device; and transmit instructions through the network connection to the mobile device that cause the mobile device to modify the portion of memory on the mobile device based at least in part on the action taken by the entity. - View Dependent Claims (17, 18, 19, 20)
