Abstract

A proton beam collimator comprising (a) titanium or (b) stainless steel containing no tungsten or (c) containing no tungsten or brass. The collimator comprises a multi-leaf collimator (MLC). The apparatus further comprises an integrated circuit (IC) mounted adjacent the collimator, the IC subject to exposure to atomic particles, illustratively, neutrons.

Claims

1. A multi-leaf collimator for proton beam therapy, the collimator made from titanium.

2. The device of claim 1 further comprising an integrated circuit (IC) mounted adjacent the collimator, the IC subject to exposure to atomic particles.

3. The device of claim 2 further comprising an integrated circuit (IC) mounted adjacent the collimator, the IC subject to exposure to neutrons.

4. The device of claim 1 further comprising an integrated circuit mounted adjacent the collimator, the IC subject to exposure to atomic particles.

5. The device of claim 4 further comprising an integrated circuit (IC) mounted adjacent the collimator, the IC subject to exposure to neutrons.

6. A multi-leaf collimator for proton beam therapy, the collimator made from stainless steel including no tungsten.

7. The device of claim 6 further comprising an integrated circuit (IC) mounted adjacent the collimator, the IC subject to exposure to atomic particles.

8. The device of claim 7 further comprising an integrated circuit (IC) mounted adjacent the collimator, the IC subject to exposure to neutrons.

9. The device of claim 6 further comprising an integrated circuit mounted adjacent the collimator, the IC subject to exposure to atomic particles.

10. The device of claim 9 further comprising an integrated circuit (IC) mounted adjacent the collimator, the IC subject to exposure to neutrons.

11. A multi-leaf collimator for proton beam therapy, the collimator including no tungsten and no brass.

12. The device of claim 11 further comprising an integrated circuit (IC) mounted adjacent the collimator, the IC subject to exposure to atomic particles.

13. The device of claim 12 further comprising an integrated circuit (IC) mounted adjacent the collimator, the IC subject to exposure to neutrons.

14. The device of claim 11 further comprising an integrated circuit mounted adjacent the collimator, the IC subject to exposure to atomic particles.

15. The device of claim 14 further comprising an integrated circuit (IC) mounted adjacent the collimator, the IC subject to exposure to neutrons.
