1. A system for facilitating operations for sub-word component entry, the system comprising:

  • a directional input tool having a mapping between different actual radial directions and different sub-word components, said directional input tool configured to use for sequentially pointing in an intended radial direction toward intended sub-word components of at least part of an intended linguistic object;

    a determining processor configured for determining angular similarity between each actual pointing direction and radial directions of different sub-word components in the mapping, for using the determined angular similarity to compute different possible combinations of intended sub-word components that could form the intended linguistic object, and for presenting a list of potential matching linguistic objects, where the presentation favors potential matching objects according to factors including an aggregate angular similarity of constituent sub-word components of a potential matching linguistic object to the actual pointing directions;

    a selecting processor for selecting the intended linguistic object from the list; and

    a displaying processor for displaying the selected linguistic object in a human-readable message composition display area.
