1. A method of operating a jukebox device configured to at least play songs selected by a user, the jukebox device comprising a communications system connectable to a server to receive at least songs therefrom and a non-transitory storage medium configured to maintain at least a database of songs thereon, the method comprising:

  • receiving, via a touch-screen display, touch-based input from a user;

    in connection with a multitasking operating system running on the jukebox device;

    associating a task with at least one respective hardware peripheral, andassigning a first priority level to a display task and a second priority level to an audio task; and

    during operation of the jukebox device, storing data to a system operating status file on the transitory storage medium,wherein the data stored in the system operating status file is sufficient to allow the multitasking operating system to return to a specified state in case of an interruption caused by a fault.
