1. A method for selecting an antenna configuration corresponding to a next transmission of packet data, the method comprising:

  • executing instructions stored in memory, wherein execution of the instructions by a processor;

    selects an antenna configuration for packet data transmission, wherein the packet data is transmitted at a transmitting station, and wherein the antenna configuration corresponds to a receiving station address,selects an antenna configuration for packet data reception from the transmitting station; and

    transmitting packet data to the receiving station address using the selected antenna configuration for packet data transmission,wherein the antenna configuration for packet data reception is different than the antenna configuration for packet data transmission but otherwise corresponds to a known antenna configuration associated with optimizing receipt of packet data from the transmitting station.
