- receiving from a first user, using one or more processors, permission rules for a list of other users that have permission to view types of websites where the first user has a web presence;
receiving from a first website, using the one or more processors, web presence information associated with the first user visiting the first website including one or more of information identifying the first user, information indicative of a duration of the first user'"'"'s visit to the first website, a uniform resource locator or a name of a web page visited by the first user at the first website, and a representative image of the first website;
determining, using the one or more processors, whether a second user has permission to receive a notification that the first user is visiting the first website based on the permission rules and the web presence information;
generating, using the one or more processors, statistics for use in advertising based on the web presence information; and
sending the statistics to a third-party website.

Abstract
A method and system for determining and sharing a user'"'"'s web presence have been disclosed. According to one embodiment, a computer implemented method comprises providing web presence information associated with a first user from a first computer having a first software module. The web presence information is received at a second computer. The web presence information is used to dynamically inform a second user communicating with the second computer of a website that the first user is viewing.
