an encapsulant covering at least a portion of the first and second intumescent sections and the foam section, the encapsulant including four sidewalls coupled together with open opposing ends, wherein the building joint fire barrier is positioned within the gap such that no single intumescent section or foam section spans the entire width of the gap between the two building elements and the foam section edges are neither covered by intumescent sections nor in contact with the building elements and the building joint fire barrier is enabled to retain its position within the gap even if the gap shifts, expands, contracts, or otherwise changes form due to environmental or structural factors.
