1. A display device comprising:

  • a first substrate;

    a second substrate;

    a first layer comprising a first liquid crystal element between the first substrate and the second substrate;

    a stacked first polarizers;

    a stacked second polarizers;

    a transistor between the first layer and the second substrate;

    a first electrode electrically connected to the transistor;

    a second electrode;

    a retardation plate;

    a third substrate; and

    a second layer including a second liquid crystal element between the retardation plate and the third substrate,a stacked third polarizers;

    wherein the first substrate is interposed between the first layer and the stacked first polarizers,wherein the second substrate is interposed between the first layer and the stacked second polarizers,wherein the stacked first polarizers are arranged to be in a parallel Nicols state with each other,wherein the stacked second polarizers are arranged to be in a parallel Nicols state with each other,wherein the first liquid crystal element comprises a birefringent mode liquid crystal,wherein the first electrode and the second electrode are included into the layer,wherein a molecular orientation of the first liquid crystal element is controlled by a voltage between the first electrode and the second electrode,wherein the retardation plate is interposed between the stacked second polarizers and the second layer, andwherein the third substrate is interposed between the first layer and the stacked third polarizers.
