1. A method of inputting a character to a computing unit, comprising:
- displaying a reference zone on a touch screen;
capturing a stroke drawn by a user in relation to said reference zone;
identifying a combination of a shape and a relative position of said stroke in relation to said reference zone;
automatically selecting one of a plurality of characters from according said combination; and
providing said selected character as an input to the computing unit from said user;
wherein at least a portion of said stroke deviates from the boundaries of said reference zone;
wherein said reference zone is a virtual circle;
wherein a joint outline of said stroke and of said reference zone depicts a form of said selected character.
