Abstract

A user can create an online presentation by receiving audio and/or video media items from a search and dividing at least one of the audio and/or video media items into smaller time duration segments. The user can then utilize the smaller segments to create the presentation.

Claims

1. A computer implemented method for the collection and segmentation of media, the method comprising:

selecting a media search source via a user interface;

providing a form-based interface that allow the entry of inputs to form a media search query;

submitting the media search query to the media search source;

receiving a media search result for viewing on the user interface based on the media search query, the media search result comprising audio or video media items;

displaying the media search result in a collection depository on the user interface;

dividing at least one of the media items into a plurality of smaller time segments;

receiving a user-selected selected style, from a plurality of different styles for a visual presentation; and

automatically populating the user-selected style with at least one of the smaller time segments based on the user-selected style,

wherein the at least one media item is divided in the plurality of smaller time segments of a predetermined duration,

wherein the duration is based on one of time or data size, and

wherein the method is performed by one or more processors adapted to execute instructions stored on one or more memory components of the computer.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprises:

relocating one or more of the plurality of smaller time segments into a storyboard for use in creating a network multimedia presentation.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprises:

embedding one or more of the plurality of smaller time segments the network multimedia presentation for viewing over a network.

4. A computer system for the collection and segmentation of media, the system comprising:

a storage device;

a processing element having a processing program and access to the storage device; and

a process-readable medium having executable instructions thereon to direct the processing system when used by the processing element to;

select a media search source via a user interface;

provide a form-based interface that allow the entry of inputs to form a media search query;

submit the media search query to the media search source;

receive a media search result for viewing on the user interface based on the media search query, the media search result comprising audio or video media items;

display the media search result in a collection depository on the user interface; and

divide at least one of the media items into a plurality of smaller time segments receive a user-selected selected style, from a plurality of different styles, for a visual presentation; and

automatically populate the user-selected style with at least one of the smaller time segments based on the user-selected style;

wherein the at least one media item is divided in the plurality of smaller time segments of a predetermined duration,

wherein the duration is based on one of time or data size.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein the process-readable medium further includes executable instructions thereon to direct the processing system when used by the processing element to:

relocate one or more of the plurality of smaller time segments into a storyboard for use in creating a network multimedia presentation.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein the process-readable medium further includes executable instructions thereon to direct the processing system when used by the processing element to:

embedding one or more of the plurality of smaller time segments into the network multimedia presentation for viewing over a network.

7. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having a computer executable instructions for performing a method comprising:

selecting a media search source via a user interface;

providing a form-based interface that allow the entry of inputs to form a media search query;

submitting the media search query to the media search source;

receiving a media search result for viewing on the user interface based on the media search query, the media search result comprising audio or video media items;

displaying the media search result in a collection depository on the user interface;

dividing at least one of the media items into a plurality of smaller time segments;

receiving a user-selected selected style, from a plurality of different styles, for a visual presentation; and

automatically populating the user-selected style with at least one of the smaller time segments based on the user-selected style;

wherein the at least one media item is divided in the plurality of smaller time segments of a predetermined duration,

wherein the duration is based on one of time or data size.

8. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7, wherein the computer executable instructions for performing the method further comprises:

relocating one or more of the plurality of smaller time segments into a storyboard for use in creating a network multimedia presentation.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8, wherein the computer executable instructions for performing the method further comprises:

embedding one or more of the plurality of smaller time segments into the network multimedia presentation for viewing over a network.
