Delivery apparatus and methods for vertebrostenting
First Claim
1. A stent delivery system for deploying a stent within an enlarged curvilinear void created in a bony structure comprising:
- a handle;
an elongate shaft adapted to releasably hold a self-expanding cement-directing stent at a distal end, wherein the elongate shaft includes an inner shaft, an outer shaft and a tubular sheath; and
at least one user control mechanism adapted to deploy the stent,wherein the at least one user control mechanism includes a rotating user control mechanism and a stent release button, wherein the user control mechanism comprises a slot and a pin associated with each of the inner shaft, outer shaft and tubular sheath, such that rotation of the user control mechanism will force each pin along a direction determined by a respective slot,whereing the at least one user control mechanism is positioned in the handle and is used to move the elongate shaft and deploy the stent.

Abstract
The invention relates to a systems, devices and methods of delivering and deploying a stent into a curvilinear cavity within a vertebral body or other bony or body structure. In some instances, a system can include an elongate shaft for delivering a self-expanding, cement-directing stent. The elongate shaft can include at least one of an inner shaft, an outer shaft, a tubular sheath, a flexible guidewire, and an internal polymer extrusion. A rotational handle can be used to control movement of the elongate shaft. The rotational handle can incorporate one or more pins in slots associated with each of the components (e.g., inner shaft, outer shaft, and tubular sheath), such that upon rotation of the handle, the pins are forced to move in the direction of their respective slots.

7. A user control mechanism for a stent delievery device, comprising:
-
a support element, wherein the support element houses an elongate shaft comprising an inner shaft, an outer shaft and a tubular sheath; at least one cam shaft helically positioned on the support element; and at least one pin engaging the cam shaft corresponding to each of the inner shaft, outer shaft and tubular sheath, wherein the cam shaft is adapted to force the pin linearly along an axial extend of the user control mechanism upon a rotation of the support element, whereing the user control mechanism is positioned in the support element and is used to move the elongate shaft and deploy a braided sheath.
