1. A system comprising:

  • a device having a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end of the device configured for placement into a body lumen, the device comprising a first electrode located between the proximal and distal ends of the device; and

    a processor operably connected to the first electrode of the device, the processor operable to collect conductance data from the device to determine a profile of the body lumen based upon the conductance data, the conductance data collected at a plurality of locations within the body lumen and determined at each of the plurality of locations when the first electrode is immersed in a fluid within the body lumen;

    wherein the processor further comprises a computational program configured to detect a bifurcation in the body lumen based upon the conductance data obtained at the plurality of locations and changes in cross-sectional area identified using the conductance data, the conductance data including data obtained at the bifurcation using the device, and distinguishing the bifurcation from a lesion.
