Abstract

A method for passing content to at least one communicator device. The user of a communicator device registers with at least one service provider for delivering a plurality of different types of content to be passed to the at least one communicator device. A user defined priority is assigned to the at least one type of content. The user defined priority is stored on a computer readable medium. The different types of content are passed to the at least one communicator device based on the user defined priority.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method for passing content to a plurality of communicator devices, the method comprising:

receiving at least one service provider preference information corresponding to at least one user regarding different types of content to be transmitted to at least one of the plurality of communicator devices, the preference information comprising priority information, wherein the priority information is assigned to two or more of the plurality of communicator devices and is different between the two or more communicator devices;

assigning a priority to at least one of the types of content based on the preference information or the communicator device;

storing the priority information on a non-transitory computer readable medium;

receiving a spatial location dynamic code corresponding to the at least one user or to the at least one of the plurality of communicator devices; and

transmitting the different types of content to at least one of the plurality of communicator devices based on the priority information.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

assigning a user-defined priority to one or more communicator service providers.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the transmitting further comprises:

receiving content to be passed to the communicator device; and

reading the stored priority information prior to the step of passing the different types of content to the communicator device.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the computer readable medium is readable by the communicator device.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the computer readable medium is located on the communicator device.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the computer readable medium is located remotely from the communicator device.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the transmitting further comprises resending at least one type of content until receipt of the content by the communicator device is confirmed.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the different types of content are transmitted to the at least one communicator device on a push or pull basis initiated by the communicator device.

9. A computer-implemented method for passing content to a plurality of communicator devices, the method comprising:

receiving selection information concerning a selection of at least one service for delivering different types of content to be transmitted to at least one of the plurality of communicator devices, the selection information comprising priority information, wherein the priority information is assigned to two or more of the plurality of communicator devices and is different between the two or more communicator devices;

assigning at least one priority to a type of content based upon the communicator device or a predetermined condition, location, and/or service provider;

storing the priority and the predetermined condition, location, and/or service provider;

receiving a spatial location dynamic code corresponding to the at least one user or to the at least one of the plurality of communicator devices;

determining whether the predetermined condition, location, and/or service provider has occurred; and

transmitting the content to the communicator device utilizing the priority if the predetermined condition, location, and/or service provider has occurred.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the predetermined condition is selected from a group consisting of a geographic area in which the communicator device is presently located, and a geographic area in which the communicator device is not presently located.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the geographic area is within the service territory of a vendor.

12. The method of claim 9, wherein the content is transmitted to the communicator device on a push or pull basis initiated by the communicator device.

13. A computer-implemented method for passing content to a plurality of communicator devices, the method comprising:

registering with at least one service provider for delivering a plurality of different types of content to be passed to the at least one communicator device, at least two vendors providing the content;

assigning at least one user-defined priority to each vendor, wherein the user-defined priorities comprise preference information corresponding to a user regarding different types of content to be transmitted to the user'"'"'s communicator device, wherein user-defined priorities of a user are assigned to two or more of the plurality of communicator devices and is different between the two or more communicator devices;

storing the user-defined priorities on a non-transitory computer readable medium;

receiving a spatial location dynamic code corresponding to the at least one user or to the at least one of the plurality of communicator devices; and

passing the content to the communicator device utilizing the user-defined priorities.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the vendors provide the same type of content.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein the vendors provide different types of content.

16. The method of claim 13, wherein the content is passed to the communicator device on a push or pull basis initiated by the communicator device.

17. A computer-implemented method for passing content to plurality of communicator devices, the method comprising:

receiving preference information corresponding to at least one user regarding different types of content, the preference information comprising priority information and corresponding to a user regarding different types of content to be transmitted to the user'"'"'s communicator device, wherein the priority information is assigned to two or more of the plurality of communicator devices and is different between the two or more communicator devices;

selecting at least one service operated by a third party service provider for delivering the content to the at least one communicator device;

receiving a spatial location dynamic code corresponding to the at least one user or to the at least one of the plurality of communicator devices;

automatically selecting based on the priority information, by at least one of the service and the third party service provider, at least one communication network for passing the content to the communicator device; and

passing the content to the communicator device utilizing the automatically selected communication network.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the at least one of the service and the third party service provider automatically select the at least one communication network based upon the location of the communicator device.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein the content is passed to the communicator device on a push or pull basis initiated by the communicator device.

20. A computer-implemented method for passing content to a plurality of communicator devices, the method comprising:

assigning user-defined priorities to each one of the communicator devices, the user-defined priorities comprising preference information corresponding to a user regarding different types of content to be transmitted to the user'"'"'s communicator device, wherein the user-defined priorities of a user are assigned to two or more of the plurality of communicator devices and are different between the two or more communicator devices;

storing the user defined priorities on at least one non-transitory computer readable medium;

receiving a spatial location dynamic code corresponding to the at least one user or to the at least one of the plurality of communicator devices; and

passing content to the communicator devices based on the user-defined priorities.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein the content is passed to the communicator device on a push or pull basis initiated by the communicator device.

22. A computer-implemented method for passing content to a plurality of communicator devices, the method comprising:

receiving at least one service provider preference information corresponding to at least one user regarding different types of content to be transmitted to at least one of the plurality of communicator devices, the preference information comprising priority information, wherein the priority information is assigned to two or more of the plurality of communicator devices and is different between the two or more communicator devices;

assigning a priority to at least one of the types of content based on the preference information or the communicator device;

storing the priority information on a non-transitory computer readable medium;

receiving a spatial range identifier corresponding to the at least one user or to the at least one of the plurality of communicator devices; and

transmitting the different types of content to at least one of the plurality of communicator devices based on the priority information and on a push or pull basis initiated by the at least one of the plurality of communicator devices.

23. The method of claim 22, further comprising:

assigning a user-defined priority to one or more communicator service providers.

24. The method of claim 22, wherein the transmitting further comprises:

receiving content to be passed to the communicator device; and

reading the stored priority information prior to the step of passing the different types of content to the communicator device.

25. The method of claim 22, wherein the computer readable medium is readable by the communicator device.

26. The method of claim 22, wherein the computer readable medium is located on the communicator device.

27. The method of claim 22, wherein the computer readable medium is located remotely from the communicator device.

28. The method of claim 22, wherein the different types of content are transmitted to the at least one communicator device on a push or pull basis initiated by the communicator device.

29. The method of claim 22, wherein the transmitting further comprises resending at least one type of content until receipt of the content by the communicator device is confirmed.

30. A computer-implemented method for passing content to a plurality of communicator devices, the method comprising:

receiving selection information concerning a selection of at least one service for delivering different types of content to be transmitted to at least one of the plurality of communicator devices, the selection information comprising priority information, wherein the priority information is assigned to two or more of the plurality of communicator devices and is different between the two or more communicator devices;

assigning at least one priority to a type of content based upon the communicator device or a predetermined condition, location, and/or service provider;

storing the priority and the predetermined condition, location, and/or service provider;

receiving a spatial range identifier corresponding to the at least one user or to the at least one of the plurality of communicator devices;

determining whether the predetermined condition, location, and/or service provider has occurred; and

transmitting the content to the communicator device utilizing the priority if the predetermined condition, location, and/or service provider has occurred and on a push or pull basis initiated by the communicator device.

31. The method of claim 30, wherein the predetermined condition is selected from a group consisting of a geographic area in which the communicator device is presently located, and a geographic area in which the communicator device is not presently located.

32. The method of claim 31, wherein the geographic area is within the service territory of a vendor.

33. The method of claim 30, wherein the content is transmitted to the communicator device on a push or pull basis initiated by the communicator device.

34. The method of claim 33, wherein the vendors provide the same type of content.

35. The method of claim 33, wherein the vendors provide different types of content.

36. A computer-implemented method for passing content to a plurality of communicator devices, the method comprising:

registering with at least one service provider for delivering a plurality of different types of content to be passed to the at least one communicator device, at least two vendors providing the content;

assigning at least one user-defined priority to each vendor, wherein the user-defined priorities comprise preference information corresponding to a user regarding different types of content to be transmitted to the user'"'"'s communicator device, wherein user-defined priorities of a user are assigned to two or more of the plurality of communicator devices and is different between the two or more communicator devices;

storing the user-defined priorities on a non-transitory computer readable medium;

receiving a spatial range identifier corresponding to the at least one user or to the at least one of the plurality of communicator devices; and

passing the content to the communicator device utilizing the user-defined priorities and on a push or pull basis initiated by the communicator device.

37. The method of claim 36, wherein the content is passed to the communicator device on a push or pull basis initiated by the communicator device.

38. A computer-implemented method for passing content to plurality of communicator devices, the method comprising:

receiving preference information corresponding to at least one user regarding different types of content, the preference information comprising priority information and corresponding to a user regarding different types of content to be transmitted to the user'"'"'s communicator device, wherein the priority information is assigned to two or more of the plurality of communicator devices and is different between the two or more communicator devices;

selecting at least one service operated by a third party service provider for delivering the content to the at least one communicator device;

receiving a spatial range identifier corresponding to the at least one user or to the at least one of the plurality of communicator devices;

automatically selecting based on the priority information, by at least one of the service and the third party service provider, at least one communication network for passing the content to the communicator device; and

passing the content to the communicator device utilizing the automatically selected communication network and on a push or pull basis initiated by the communicator device.

39. The method of claim 38, wherein the at least one of the service and the third party service provider automatically select the at least one communication network based upon the location of the communicator device.

40. The method of claim 38, wherein the content is passed to the communicator device on a push or pull basis initiated by the communicator device.

41. A computer-implemented method for passing content to a plurality of communicator devices, the method comprising:

assigning user-defined priorities to each one of the communicator devices, the user-defined priorities comprising preference information corresponding to a user regarding different types of content to be transmitted to the user'"'"'s communicator device, wherein the user-defined priorities of a user are assigned to two or more of the plurality of communicator devices and are different between the two or more communicator devices;

storing the user defined priorities on at least one non-transitory computer readable medium;

receiving a spatial range identifier corresponding to the at least one user or to the at least one of the plurality of communicator devices; and

passing content to the communicator devices based on the user-defined priorities and on a push or pull basis initiated by the communicator devices.

42. The method of claim 41, wherein the content is passed to the communicator device on a push or pull basis initiated by the communicator device.
