1. A noise reducer for reducing engine noise of a jet engine having a central axis and a main exhaust nozzle, the noise reducer comprising:

  • a tubular member disposed within the jet engine and having a plurality of ports at a distal end of the tubular member, wherein the tubular member is aligned along the central axis, and the ports are disposed in the exhaust stream outside the main exhaust nozzle, wherein the tubular member has an aspect ratio of between 0 and 0.25, the aspect ratio being defined as a ratio of a cross-section area of the tubular member to a cross-section area of the main exhaust nozzle; and

wherein a gaseous flow is injected into the exhaust stream through the plurality of ports in an angled direction with respect to the central axis.
