1. A method, comprising:

  • receiving, by a mobile station processor, an address for a call to a destination;

    determining, by the mobile station processor, that the address is an emergency call address;

    determining, by the mobile station processor, that the call will be supported using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP);

    instructing, by the mobile station processor, a wireless radio to transmit a call setup request directed to the emergency call address, the call setup request including an indication that the emergency call is from a mobile station employing VoIP,wherein the mobile station processor includes a Medium Access Control (MAC) address of the wireless radio, a type of the wireless radio that will transmit the call setup request and a tower identification in the call setup request.
