A cleaning appliance of the canister type comprising a separator for separating dirt from a dirt-bearing fluid flow, a floor engaging rolling assembly comprising a device for drawing the fluid flow through the separator, a duct for conveying the fluid flow from the separator to the rolling assembly, and a support on which the separator is mounted for effecting relative pivotal movement between the separator and the duct along a fixed path during use while the dirt is being separated from the dirt-bearing fluid flow.
