Abstract

A system provides a player tracking system and system gaming apparatus for playing non-base games by funding the credit side of a gaming cycle. The system further includes at least one gaming device having a base game. The player tracking system and system gaming apparatus includes a player tracking user interface. The player tracking user interface provides a player with an opportunity to select and play a non-base game that may be promotional-funded or player-funded.

Claims

1. A gaming system for dynamically playing a tournament game;

comprising;

a plurality of gaming machines each having a base game display capable of presenting a base game, each gaming machine including a system gaming apparatus for playing tournament games that are operatively coupled to the gaming machines, and wherein each system gaming apparatus includes a display screen and a processor, and enables a player to play a tournament game using the display screen and processor of the system gaming apparatus; and

a communication link connecting the plurality of gaming machines, wherein the base game includes a tournament eligibility trigger;

wherein upon activation of the tournament eligibility trigger, the base game provides the player with the opportunity to play a tournament game, and wherein the gaming system enables the player to choose the tournament game to play out of a plurality of tournament games via the display screen of the system gaming apparatus;

wherein the gaming system includes a luck meter that monitors statistical deviation of game play on a gaming device from a theoretical payout percentage and displays information regarding recent statistical deviations for game play on the gaming device to the player.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the tournament game is played concurrently with the base game.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the tournament game is chosen by the player while the base game is being played.

7. The gaming system of claim 1, wherein the displayed information regarding recent statistical deviations for game play on the gaming device includes a digital number that conveys a measure of luckiness.

8. The gaming system of claim 1, wherein the displayed information regarding recent statistical deviations for game play on the gaming device includes a linear gauge that conveys a measure of luckiness.

9. The gaming system of claim 1, wherein the displayed information regarding recent statistical deviations for game play on the gaming device includes a radial gauge that conveys a measure of luckiness.

10. The gaming system of claim 1, wherein the displayed information regarding recent statistical deviations for game play on the gaming device includes a message to the player.

11. The gaming system of claim 1, wherein the displayed information regarding recent statistical deviations for game play on the gaming device includes a message to the player that conveys the gaming device is statistically hot.

12. The gaming system of claim 1, wherein the displayed information regarding recent statistical deviations for game play on the gaming device includes a message to the player that conveys the gaming device is statistically cold.

4. A gaming system for dynamically playing a tournament game;

comprising;

a plurality of gaming machines each having a base game display capable of presenting a base game, each gaming machine including a system gaming apparatus for playing tournament games that are operatively coupled to the gaming machines; and

a communication link connecting the plurality of gaming machines, wherein the base game includes a tournament eligibility trigger;

wherein upon activation of the tournament eligibility trigger, the base game provides the player with the opportunity to play a tournament game, and wherein the gaming system enables the player to choose the tournament game to play out of a plurality of tournament games on the system gaming apparatus;

wherein the gaming system includes a luck meter that monitors statistical deviation of game play on a gaming device from a theoretical payout percentage and displays information regarding recent statistical deviations for game play on the gaming device to the player.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein the tournament game is played concurrently with the base game.

6. The system of claim 4, wherein the tournament game is chosen by the player while the base game is being played.

13. The gaming system of claim 4, wherein the displayed information regarding recent statistical deviations for game play on the gaming device includes a digital number that conveys a measure of luckiness.

14. The gaming system of claim 4, wherein the displayed information regarding recent statistical deviations for game play on the gaming device includes a linear gauge that conveys a measure of luckiness.

15. The gaming system of claim 4, wherein the displayed information regarding recent statistical deviations for game play on the gaming device includes a radial gauge that conveys a measure of luckiness.

16. The gaming system of claim 4, wherein the displayed information regarding recent statistical deviations for game play on the gaming device includes a message to the player.

17. The gaming system of claim 4, wherein the displayed information regarding recent statistical deviations for game play on the gaming device includes a message to the player that conveys the gaming device is statistically hot.

18. The gaming system of claim 4, wherein the displayed information regarding recent statistical deviations for game play on the gaming device includes a message to the player that conveys the gaming device is statistically cold.
