1. A wearable infusion pump system, comprising:
- a pump device including;
a pump housing including an interior wall that at least partially defines a space to slidably receive a medicine cartridge, a mechanical drive system housed inside the pump housing and configured to dispense medicine from the medicine cartridge, a cap device configured to mechanically engage the pump hosing and seal an opening to the space for receiving the medicine cartridge, and a first electrical connector that is externally accessible along the pump housing, wherein the pump housing;
a controller device removably attachable to the pump device such that a controller housing of the controller device mates with the pump housing of the pump device, the controller device including;
control circuitry housed inside the controller housing, a user interface display positioned along the controller housing, and a second electrical connector that is externally accessible along the controller housing and is configured to mate with the first electrical connector to provide electrical communication between the control circuitry housed inside the controller housing and the mechanical drive system housed inside the pump housing; and
a compressible gasket affixed to the pump housing and arranged proximate to the first electrical connector, wherein the compressible gasket is compressed between the controller housing and the pump housing and surrounds a periphery of the first and second electrical connectors when the controller device is removably attached to the pump device.

Abstract
Some embodiments of an infusion pump system may include a construction that is resistant to external contaminants, such as precipitation, water splashes, sweat and the like. In particular embodiments, the infusion pump system can include a pump device that is removably attached to a controller device to provide an electrical connection therebetween. In such circumstances, the infusion pump system can be assembled as a sealed construction that protects the electrical connection between the pump device and the removable controller device.
