1. A method of operating a tire pressure monitoring system comprising:
- configuring a tire pressure measuring device with a plurality of separate programs that each transmit according to only one of a plurality of communication protocols;
sensing tire pressure information using the tire pressure measuring device;
wherein the plurality of separate programs are not changed after an initial installation;
receiving a trigger signal from a control unit;
upon receiving the trigger signal, transmitting the tire pressure information from the tire pressure measuring device to an external receiver device using a first subset of the plurality of separate programs during a first time period, the first subset being a plurality of programs;
subsequently transmitting the tire pressure information from the tire pressure measuring device to the external receiver device using a second subset of the plurality of separate programs during a second time period, the second subset being a plurality of programs.
