1. A system for altering the crossectional morphology of a lumen within the body of a human or animal subject, said system comprising:

  • an introduction device positionable within the lumen, the introduction device including a working device lumen having a lumen opening emerging from the introduction device, the working device lumen having a fixed, longitudinally curved lumen communicating with the working device lumen opening to establish a predefined angle transverse to a longitudinal axis of the introduction device;

    an extendable member projecting from the introduction device proximal from a terminal end of the introduction device through the fixed curve lumen and working device lumen opening at the angle of the predefined angle transverse to a longitudinal axis of the introduction device;

    a permanently implantable device that is introduceable through the introduction device into an opening in the lumen, said device being useable to modify the forces exerted on the lumen by tissue outside of the lumen, thereby resulting in a change of the crossectional morphology of the lumen.
