1. Communication and charging circuitry for an implantable medical device, comprising:

  • a resonant circuit comprising a coil and a resonant capacitor for producing an AC voltage;

    a rectifier coupled to the resonant circuit for producing a DC voltage from the AC voltage;

    a storage capacitor for receiving the DC voltage;

    a first switch in series with the storage capacitor; and

    control circuitry, wherein the control circuitry is configured to close the first switch during periods when the resonant circuit is wirelessly receiving energy, and wherein the control circuitry is configured to open the first switch during periods where the resonant circuit is performing data telemetry.
