1. A lead connection system comprising:

  • a connector housing having a first end, a second end opposite to the first end, a first side, and a second side opposite to the first side;

    a first lead retainer disposed along the first side of the connector housing, the first lead retainer configured and arranged to receive a first lead of the plurality of leads, the first lead retainer comprising a first pivotable hinged panel that cooperates with the connector housing to removably retain the first lead when pivoted to a closed position, anda second lead retainer disposed along the second side of the connector housing, the second lead retainer configured and arranged to receive a second lead of the plurality of leads, the second lead retainer comprising a second pivotable hinged panel that cooperates with the connector housing to removably retain the second lead when pivoted to a closed position;

    a first plurality of connector contacts disposed along the first side of the connector housing, the first plurality of connector contacts configured and arranged for electrically coupling with a plurality of terminals disposed along a proximal end portion of the first lead when the first lead is received by the first lead retainer and the first pivotable hinged panel is pivoted to the closed position;

    a second plurality of connector contacts disposed along the second side of the connector housing, the second plurality of connector contacts configured and arranged for electrically coupling with a plurality of terminals disposed along a proximal end portion of the second lead when the second lead is received by the second lead retainer and the second pivotable hinged panel is pivoted to the closed position; and

    a connector cable having a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end electrically coupled to each of the first plurality of connector contacts and the second plurality of connector contacts, the proximal end configured and arranged for coupling to a trial stimulator.
