1. A vehicle surroundings monitoring apparatus comprising:
- a plurality of imaging units which capture an external region of a present-vehicle and output images;
a display unit which is installed in an interior of the present-vehicle;
an image combined unit which combines the images output from the imaging units and outputs a combined image; and
a display control unit which displays the combined image output from the image combined unit on the display unit,wherein at least one of the imaging units is installed at a retractable side mirror of the present-vehicle, and the image combined unit extracts extracted images of an extraction range determined for respective images output from the imaging units, combines the extracted images to generate the combined image, and changes the extraction range and a boundary position between the extracted images constituting the combined image depending on extension and retraction of the side mirror, andwherein the combined image is generated by combining images output from the imaging units such that boundary positions thereof match each other.

7. A vehicle surroundings monitoring apparatus comprising:

at least one fixed position imaging unit which captures an external region of a present-vehicle; at least one adjustable imaging unit disposed on a retractable side mirror of the vehicle selectively adjustable between at least an extended state and a retracted state, in which an extraction range of the adjustable imaging unit depends on the state of the side mirror; a display unit which is installed in an interior of the present-vehicle; an image combiner processing unit which combines images output from the at least one fixed position imaging unit and the at least one adjustable imaging unit and outputs a combined image; and a display control unit which displays the combined image output from the image combiner processing unit on the display unit, wherein the image combiner processing unit is configured to; determine the extraction range of the adjustable imaging unit based on whether the retractable side mirror is in the extended state or the refracted state; extract images from the at least one fixed position imaging unit and the at least one adjustable imaging unit, and combine the extracted images to generate the combined image based on the extraction range and a boundary position between the extracted images, and wherein the combined image is generated by combining the extracted images such that boundary positions thereof match each other. - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10, 11)

12. A method of monitoring the surroundings of a vehicle having:

at least one fixed position imaging unit which captures an external region of a present-vehicle; at least one adjustable imaging unit disposed on a retractable side mirror of the vehicle selectively adjustable between at least an extended state and a retracted state, in which an extraction range of the adjustable imaging unit depends on the state of the side mirror; a display unit which is installed in an interior of the present-vehicle; an image combiner processing unit which combines images output from the at least one fixed position imaging unit and the at least one adjustable imaging unit and outputs a combined image; and a display control unit which displays the combined image output from the image combiner processing unit on the display unit, wherein the method is performed by the image combiner processing unit with the steps of; determining the extraction range of the adjustable imaging unit based on whether the retractable side mirror is in the extended state or the refracted state; extracting images from the at least one fixed position imaging unit and the at least one adjustable imaging unit, and combining the extracted images to generate the combined image based on the extraction range and a boundary position between the extracted images, and wherein the combined image is generated by combining the extracted images such that boundary positions thereof match each other. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15, 16)
