1. A device suitable for implantation into a living body, said device comprising a laminar body, said laminar body having at least a porous first layer and porous second layer, each of said first layer and second layer comprising pores, said first layer further comprising a polymer and whose pores are larger and more easily collapsed than the pores of said second layer;

  • further wherein at room temperature or above said laminar body having at least one surface that conforms to the shape of an uneven surface upon compressing said device evenly against said uneven surface, wherein said compressing causes the resistance from protruding areas of said uneven surface to predominantly and irreversibly deform and collapse pores of the first layer, thereby causing the surface of the device to take on the inverse shape of the uneven surface without the first layer itself springing back to its original shape upon removal of the compressive force; and

    further wherein said device (a) is fastenable to tissue without the use of pre-manufactured holes in said device, and (b) is capable of being gradually resorbed by said living body.
