1. A system comprising:
- an implantable microstimulator comprisinga single body having a distal end surface, a proximal end surface, and at least one side surface disposed in between the distal and proximal end surfaces,electrical circuitry disposed within the single body and configured and arranged to generate electrical stimulation current,a power source disposed within the single body and coupled to the electrical circuitry to provide power used for electrical stimulation, anda programmable memory unit disposed within the single body and coupled to the electrical circuitry and the power source; and
a connector assembly attached to the microstimulator and extending parallel to the at least one side surface of the micro stimulator;
wherein the connector assembly is further configured to removably receive a portion of a lead and to electrically couple one or more electrodes disposed on the lead to the electrical circuitry of the micro stimulator.

The connector assembly is further configured to facilitate removable coupling of a lead having one or more electrodes disposed thereon to the stimulator.

14. A stimulation assembly comprising:
