Disease management system and method including permission database
First Claim
1. A method of controlling therapy alteration data contained in or distributed by a data storage in digital communication with a computing device, comprising:
- storing, in the data storage, non-transitory data representative of a medical history of a patient, the medical history including subjective patient inputs and objective patient inputs;
storing, in a regulatory permissions table in the data storage, non-transitory data representative of an applicable law of at least one of;
a country, a state, or a city jurisdiction;
storing, in a sharing permissions table in the data storage, non-transitory data representative of permission to access the medical history data;
storing, in the data storage, non-transitory data representative of a level of authority for therapy self-alteration of the patient using a therapy alteration permission level (TAPL) table;
determining, in the computing device, via direct interactive dialogue between the patient and the computing device, a subjective-objective correlation factor (SOCF) of the patient, wherein the SOCF is a statistical measure of a given patient'"'"'s ability to assess his/her own disease state and progress;
receiving a therapy self-alteration request from the patient, the therapy self-alteration request based on the medical history data of the patient;
determining, in the computing device, if the patient therapy self-alteration request complies with the TAPL, the regulatory permissions table, and the sharing permissions table;
determining, in the computing device, an amount of available therapy self-alteration for the patient, wherein the amount of available therapy self-alteration is based on the TAPL and the medical history, and wherein the amount of available therapy self-alteration for the patient is further factored by the SOCF;
granting the therapy self-alteration request if the request complies with the TAPL, the regulatory permissions table, and the sharing permissions table; and
denying the therapy self-alteration request if the request does not comply with any of the TAPL, the regulatory permissions table, and the sharing permissions table.

Abstract
A system and method for allowing a patient to access an automated process for managing a specified health problem called a disease. The system performs disease management in a fully automated manner, using periodic interactive dialogs with the patient to obtain health state measurements from the patient, to evaluate and assess the progress of the patient'"'"'s disease, to review and adjust therapy to optimal levels, and to give the patient medical advice for administering treatment and handling symptom flare-ups and acute episodes of the disease. The medical records are updated, the progression of the disease is stored and tracked, and the patient'"'"'s preferences for treatment are stored and then used to offer medical advice based on the current state of the disease. A prestored general disease trend curve is compared against a patient specific disease trend curve, and the system makes an automated response such as adjusting therapy.

7. A non-transitory computer usable medium having computer readable program code embodied therein for controlling patient therapy self-alteration permissions, the computer readable program code comprising instructions which, when executed by a computer device or processor, perform and direct the steps of:
-
storing, in a non-transitory data storage accessible by the computer readable program code, a specification of a medical history of a patient, the medical history including subjective patient inputs and objective patient inputs; storing, in the non-transitory data storage, a specification of at least one of a country, a state, and a city jurisdictional regulation; storing, in the non-transitory data storage, a specification of a permission database, the database indicating a level of authority for automated patient therapy self-alteration, wherein the level of authority includes a therapy alteration permissions level (TAPL); determining, in the computing device, via direct interactive dialogue between the patient and the computing device, a subjective-objective correlation factor (SOCF) of the patient, wherein the SOCF is a statistical measure of a given patient'"'"'s ability to assess his/her own disease state and progress; receiving a therapy self-alteration request from the patient, the therapy self-alteration request based on the medical history data of the patient; determining, in the computing device, if the therapy self-alteration request compiles with the TAPL, the regulatory permissions table, and the sharing permissions table; determining, in the computing device, an amount of available therapy self-alteration for the patient, wherein the amount of available therapy self-alteration is based on the TAPL and the medical history, and wherein the amount of available therapy self-alteration for the patient is further factored by the SOCF; granting the therapy self-alteration request if the request complies with all of the TAPL, the permissions database and the specifications of the applicable country, state, and city jurisdictional regulations; and denying the therapy self-alteration request if the request does not comply with any of the TAPL, the permissions database, and the specifications of the applicable country, state, and city jurisdictional regulations. - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10, 11, 12)
