1. A method of antagonizing signal transduction in dorsal root ganglion cells in a subject, comprising administering to the subject a monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to a first receptor consisting of amino acid residues 1-662 of SEQ ID NO:

  • 8, or a second receptor consisting of amino acid residues 1-979 of SEQ ID NO;

    16, or a heterodimeric receptor comprising the first and second receptors, wherein the isotype of the monoclonal antibody is IgG, and wherein after administration of the monoclonal antibody, signal transduction through the heterodimeric receptor induced by a polypeptide comprising amino acid residues 27-164 of SEQ ID NO;

    2 is reduced.
