1. A method for producing a bone-polymer composite comprising:
- (a) providing a plurality of bone particles;
(b) treating the bone particles with a silane coupling agent such that the silane coupling agent is directly coupled to the bone particles; and
(c) incorporating the bone particles obtained from (b) into a polymer, wherein the polymer is not a polyaromatic polymer.

Abstract
The invention provides a method for the preparation of bone-polymer composites wherein the mineral portion of the bone is treated with a coupling agent before being incorporated into a biocompatible polymeric matrix. The resulting composites may be used as such or be further processed to form an osteoimplant.
