Abstract
A novel maize variety designated PH1K8C and seed, plants and plant parts thereof. Methods for producing a maize plant that comprise crossing maize variety PH1K8C with another maize plant. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into PH1K8C through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. Hybrid maize seed, plant or plant part produced by crossing the variety PH1K8C or a locus conversion of PH1K8C with another maize variety.

A converted seed, plant, plant part, or cell of inbred maize variety PH1K8C, representative seed of said variety having been deposited under ATCC accession number PTA-120726, wherein said seed, plant, plant part, or cell of inbred maize variety PH1K8C further comprises a locus conversion, and wherein said converted plant or a plant grown from said converted seed comprises essentially all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of inbred maize variety PH1K8C listed in Table 1 when grown in the same environmental conditions.

A second maize seed, plant, plant part, or cell produced by crossing a plant or plant part of inbred maize variety PH1K8C, or a locus conversion thereof, with another maize plant, wherein representative seed of said inbred maize variety PH1K8C has been deposited under ATCC accession number PTA-120726 and wherein said second maize seed, plant, plant part, or cell has 92% of the same polymorphisms for molecular markers listed in Table 4 as the plant or plant part of inbred maize variety PH1 K8C.
