1. A computer-implemented method of virtually teleporting avatars, the method being implemented by a computer that includes one or more processors, the method comprising:
- receiving a first command to place a copy of an avatar at a first location in a virtual universe;
placing the copy of the avatar at the first location in response to the first command such that the copy of the avatar occupies a simulated space in the virtual universe that is associated with the first location;
receiving a second command to teleport the avatar to the first location; and
teleporting the avatar to the first location in response to the second command such that the avatar occupies the simulated space in place of the copy of the avatar and the copy of the avatar no longer occupies the simulated space.

Abstract
The present invention provides a computer implemented method and apparatus to project a projected avatar associated with an avatar in a virtual universe. A computer receives a command to project the avatar, the command having a projection point. The computer transmits a request to place a projected avatar at the projection point to a virtual universe host. The computer renders a tab associated with the projected avatar.

1. A computer-implemented method of virtually teleporting avatars, the method being implemented by a computer that includes one or more processors, the method comprising:
-
receiving a first command to place a copy of an avatar at a first location in a virtual universe; placing the copy of the avatar at the first location in response to the first command such that the copy of the avatar occupies a simulated space in the virtual universe that is associated with the first location; receiving a second command to teleport the avatar to the first location; and teleporting the avatar to the first location in response to the second command such that the avatar occupies the simulated space in place of the copy of the avatar and the copy of the avatar no longer occupies the simulated space. - View Dependent Claims (2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

7. A computer program product for virtually teleporting avatars, the computer program product comprising one or more computer-readable tangible storage devices and program instructions, stored on at least one of the one or more computer-readable tangible storage devices, the program instructions comprising:
-
program instructions to receive a first command to place a copy of an avatar at a first location in a virtual universe; program instructions to place the copy of the avatar at the first location in response to the first command such that the copy of the avatar occupies a simulated space in the virtual universe that is associated with the first location; program instructions to receive a second command to teleport the avatar to the first location; and program instructions to teleport the avatar to the first location in response to the second command such that the avatar occupies the simulated space in place of the copy of the avatar and the copy of the avatar no longer occupies the simulated space. - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10, 11, 12)

13. A computer system for virtually teleporting avatars, the computer system comprising:
one or more processors configured to; receive a first command to a copy of an avatar at a first location in a virtual universe; place the copy of the avatar at the first location in response to the first command such that the copy of the avatar occupies a simulated space in the virtual universe that is associated with the first location; receive a second command to teleport the avatar to the first location; and teleport the avatar to the first location in response to the second command such that the avatar occupies the simulated space in place of the copy of the avatar and the copy of the avatar no longer occupies the simulated space. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16, 17, 18)
