1. A chromatography column comprising:

  • an elongated tubular housing having a first end, a second end, an exterior surface and an interior surface, the first end integrally formed with the housing and including a port defining a fluid inlet, the interior surface defining an interior space;

    a first frit positioned adjacent the first end in the interior space;

    a second fit positioned adjacent the second end in the interior space, the second fit including a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface;

    chromatography medium positioned between the first fit and the second fit, wherein at least a portion of the first surface of the second frit is in contact with the chromatography medium; and

    a cap spin-welded to the tubular housing to close the second end, the cap including a port defining a fluid outlet, the cap including an exterior surface, a plurality of radially extending ribs on the exterior surface and a bottom surface, wherein at least a portion of the bottom surface is in contact with the second surface of the second frit, and wherein the second frit is positioned by the cap to densely pack the chromatography medium and to substantially prevent a liquid phase from channeling through the chromatography medium.
