1. An illumination device comprising:
- a primary light emitter for providing direct illumination;
a secondary light emitter, different from the primary light emitter, for providing decorative illumination; and
an envelope (i) spaced away from and disposed around at least the secondary light emitter, (ii) comprising a first portion for receiving light emitted by the primary light emitter and transmitting the received light from the primary light emitter, substantially without modification thereof, as direct illumination through the first portion of the envelope in a first direction, and (iii) comprising a second portion, different from the first portion, (a) for receiving light emitted by the secondary light emitter, and (b) incorporating an optical element for modifying received light, the received light from the secondary light emitter being modified by the optical element and forming decorative illumination transmitted through the second portion of the envelope in a second direction different from the first direction.
