1. A catamenial device, said device comprising:

  • (a) a topsheet having a body facing surface;

    (b) a backsheet joined to said topsheet;

    (c) an absorbent core disposed between said topsheet and said backsheet;

    wherein said absorbent core has a perimeter, a longitudinal centerline, and a transverse centerline, wherein said absorbent core comprises one or more apertures where material from the core has been removed to form said apertures; and

    (d) two lateral stiffeners within the perimeter, each lateral stiffener between 10 mm and 25 mm in width and along a longitudinal edge of the absorbent core perimeter; and

    wherein said one or more apertures are in direct contact with the backsheet.
