1. A computer program product embodied on a non-transitory medium for performing operations, comprising:

  • identifying a predetermined event associated with an electronic mail message;

    determining, in response to the identifying of the predetermined event, whether the electronic mail message is compliant with an etiquette policy by comparing at least one predefined etiquette rule associated with the etiquette policy with at least one characteristic of the electronic mail message, wherein the etiquette policy relates to an allowed text format within the electronic mail message based on a recipient of the electronic mail message; and

    performing a reaction based on the determination, wherein if the electronic mail message complies with the etiquette policy then the reaction includes permitting the electronic message to be transmitted to a next destination in a network.
