1. A location information management method of a mobile terminal, the method comprising:
- determining location information of a current position while in a Global Positioning System (GPS) reception mode;
analyzing point sites in a vicinity of the current position;
determining at least one of preference routes based on the point sites and the current position;
presenting the determined at least one of the preference routes and the point sites on a map;
andsaving one of a turning point and a stop point as a point site,wherein the at least one of the preference routes is a route connecting the current location with the point sites corresponding to a location which the mobile terminal has passed,wherein the saving of the turning point as the point site comprises;
determining route points linked into a predicted route with the determined location information;
extracting the turning point at which an absolute angle between two path segments on the predicted route is greater than a threshold angle among the route points; and
saving the turning point as the point site,and wherein the saving of the stop point as the point site comprises;
extracting the stop point, at which a tarrying time exceeds a stop period, from the determined location information; and
saving the stop point as the point site.

Abstract
A method and apparatus for managing location information of a mobile terminal are provided. The method includes determining location information of a current position while in a Global Positioning System (GPS) reception mode, determining at least one of preference routes and interest sites within an interest area in a vicinity of the current position, and presenting at least one of the preference routes and the interest sites on a map. The present invention improves a user'"'"'s convenience and a utilization efficiency of the location information of the mobile terminal.

9. A location information management apparatus of a mobile terminal, the apparatus comprising:

a Global Positioning System (GPS) module for receiving GPS data while in a GPS reception mode; a control unit for determining location information of a current position by analyzing the GPS data, and analyzing point sites in a vicinity of the current position; a memory unit for storing at least one of point sites including location information which the mobile terminal has passed; and a presentation unit for presenting the determined at least one of the preference routes and the point sites on a map, wherein the at least one of the preference routes is a route connecting the current location with the point sites corresponding to a location which the mobile terminal has passed, wherein the control unit comprises one of a route learner and a stop determiner, wherein the route learner determines route points linked into a predicted route with the determined location information, extracts at least one turning point at which an absolute angle between two paths on the predicted route is greater than a threshold angle among the route points, and saves the at least one turning point as a point site, and wherein the stop point determiner extracts a stop point, at which a tarrying time exceeds a stop period, from the determined location information and saves the stop point as the point site. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)
