Abstract

Vascular treatment and methods include a plurality of self-expanding bulbs and a hypotube including interspersed patterns of longitudinally spaced rows of kerfs. Joints between woven structures and hypotubes include solder. Woven structures include patterns of radiopaque filaments measurable under x-ray. Structures are heat treated to include at least shapes at different temperatures. A catheter includes a hypotube including interspersed patterns of longitudinally spaced rows of kerfs. Heat treating systems include a detachable flange. Laser cutting systems include a fluid flow system.

Claims

1. A device for treating a thrombus in a vessel, the device comprising:

a hypotube having a longitudinal axis, the hypotube comprising;

a first pattern of longitudinally-spaced rows each comprising two kerfs and two stems, the rows of the first pattern at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the hypotube, the two kerfs in each of the rows of the first pattern having rounded edges, the two stems in each of the rows of the first pattern circumferentially opposite, the stems of the first pattern offset in a first circumferential direction, and

a second pattern of longitudinally-spaced rows each comprising two kerfs and two stems, the rows of the second pattern at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the hypotube, the two kerfs in each of the rows of the second pattern having rounded edges, the two stems in each of the rows of the second pattern circumferentially opposite, the rows of the second pattern singly alternatingly interspersed with the rows of the first pattern, the stems of the second pattern offset in a second circumferential direction opposite the first circumferential direction, a pitch of the longitudinally-spaced kerfs of first pattern and the second pattern varying longitudinally along the hypotube;

wherein the hypotube further comprises a first section having a pitch of about 0.005 inches;

a second section having a pitch of about 0.01 inches;

a third section having a pitch of about 0.02 inches;

a fourth section having a pitch of about 0.04 inches;

a fifth section having a pitch of about 0.08 inches; and

a sixth section having a pitch of about 0.16 inches.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein

the first section is a distal-most section of the hypotube and wherein the first section is 20% of the hypotube;

the second section is proximal to the first section and wherein the second section is 15% of the hypotube;

the third section is proximal to the second section and wherein the third section is 15% of the hypotube;

the fourth section is proximal to the third section and wherein the fourth section is 15% of the hypotube;

the fifth section is proximal to the fourth section and wherein the fifth section is 15% of the hypotube; and

the sixth section is proximal to the fifth section and wherein the sixth section is 20% of the hypotube.

3. The device of claim 1, wherein the first pattern and the second pattern are laser-cut.

4. A device for treating a thrombus in a vessel, the device comprising:

a hypotube having a longitudinal axis, the hypotube comprising;

a first pattern of longitudinally-spaced rows each comprising two kerfs and two stems, the two stems in each of the rows of the first pattern circumferentially opposite, the stems of the first pattern offset in a first circumferential direction, and

a second pattern of longitudinally-spaced rows each comprising two kerfs and two stems, the two stems in each of the rows of the second pattern circumferentially opposite, the rows of the second pattern interspersed with the rows of the first pattern, the stems of the second pattern offset in a second circumferential direction opposite the first circumferential direction;

wherein a pitch of the longitudinally-spaced rows of the first pattern and the second pattern vary longitudinally along the hypotube;

wherein the hypotube further comprises a first section having a pitch of about 0.005 inches;

a second section having a pitch of about 0.01 inches;

a third section having a pitch of about 0.02 inches;

a fourth section having a pitch of about 0.04 inches;

a fifth section having a pitch of about 0.08 inches; and

a sixth section having a pitch of about 0.16 inches.

5. The device of claim 4, wherein the first pattern is singly alternatingly dispersed with the second pattern.

6. The device of claim 4, wherein each of the rows is angled with respect to the longitudinal axis of the hypotube.

7. The device of claim 4, wherein the kerfs in each of the rows of the first pattern and the second pattern have rounded edges.

8. The device of claim 4, wherein

the first section is a distal-most section of the hypotube and wherein the first section is 20% of the hypotube;

the second section is proximal to the first section and wherein the second section is 15% of the hypotube;

the third section is proximal to the second section and wherein the third section is 15% of the hypotube;

the fourth section is proximal to the third section and wherein the fourth section is 15% of the hypotube;

the fifth section is proximal to the fourth section and wherein the fifth section is 15% of the hypotube; and

the sixth section is proximal to the fifth section and wherein the sixth section is 20% of the hypotube.

9. The device of claim 4, wherein the first pattern and the second pattern are laser-cut.

10. A device for treating a vessel, the device comprising:

a hypotube comprising;

a first pattern of longitudinally-spaced rows each comprising two kerfs and two stems, the stems of the first pattern offset in a first circumferential direction, and

a second pattern of longitudinally-spaced rows each comprising two kerfs and two stems, the rows of the second pattern interspersed with the rows of the first pattern, the stems of the second pattern offset in a second circumferential direction opposite the first circumferential direction;

wherein the hypotube has a longitudinal axis and wherein a pitch of the longitudinally-spaced rows of kerfs varies along the longitudinal axis of the hypotube;

wherein the hypotube further comprises a first section having a pitch of about 0.005 inches;

a second section having a pitch of about 0.01 inches;

a third section having a pitch of about 0.02 inches;

a fourth section having a pitch of about 0.04 inches;

a fifth section having a pitch of about 0.08 inches; and

a sixth section having a pitch of about 0.16 inches.

11. The device of claim 10, wherein the two stems in each of the rows of the first pattern are circumferentially opposite apart and wherein the two stems in each of the rows of the second pattern are circumferentially opposite.

12. The device of claim 10, wherein the first pattern is singly alternatingly dispersed with the second pattern.

13. The device of claim 10, wherein each of the rows is angled with respect to the longitudinal axis of the hypotube.

14. The device of claim 10, wherein the kerfs in each of the rows of the first pattern and the second pattern have rounded edges.

15. The device of claim 10, wherein the first pattern and the second pattern are laser-cut.

16. The device of claim 10, wherein the hypotube comprises stainless steel or nitinol.
