1. A method of scanning a barcode, comprising:
- using a barcode scanner to scan a barcode directly off the screen of a mobile device used by a person capable of making a telephone call;
decoding the barcode to obtain a pointer to a remote database entry, wherein the database entry includes identification information including at least one of a picture of the person'"'"'s face, fingerprint information of the person, biometric information of the person, and dynamic information about the person'"'"'s signature;
obtaining the identification information from the database entry by the decoding;
using the obtained identification information from the scanning in determining whether to authorize a transaction being performed by the person using the mobile device, by displaying the identification information and using the displayed identification information to determine whether to authorize a transaction being performed by the person using the mobile device.

10. A computer program product, tangibly stored on a computer-readable storage medium, comprising machine-readable instructions which would cause an electronic device to perform operations comprising:
-
receiving a barcode via an electronic communication over a channel on a mobile electronic device capable of making a telephone call; the barcode comprising a pointer to a remote database entry, wherein the database entry includes identification information including at least one of a picture of the person'"'"'s face, fingerprint information of the person, biometric information of the person, and dynamic information about the person'"'"'s signature; displaying the barcode on a display screen of the mobile device, wherein said bar code is displayed as an image on said display screen; wherein the image on the display screen is scanned by a barcode scanner connected to a system that uses the information in determining whether to authorize a transaction being performed by the person using the mobile device by displaying the identification information and using the displayed identification information to determine whether to authorize a transaction being performed by the person using the mobile device. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13)
